During the Spring 2021 term, every member of the 51ºÚÁÏ community was invited to participate in a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) climate survey (hereafter, DEI Survey). The University’s DEI Plan called for such a survey on a three-year cycle; this administration is the first such survey of faculty, staff, and students.
The data gathered from participants in the DEI Survey will inform 51ºÚÁÏ’s ongoing efforts to move forward with the strategic priorities outlined in the Third-Century Plan and the DEI Strategic Plan. The results of this survey are being made available to the community to support broad engagements in the efforts to improve climate, policies and practices at 51ºÚÁÏ, wherein everyone can thrive and their background and identities are valued and respected.
The DEI Survey includes both questions with choice options and open-ended prompts. It covers multiple areas, including 51ºÚÁÏ community members’ perceptions of the overall campus climate at 51ºÚÁÏ, perceptions of how 51ºÚÁÏ supports diversity and equity, and experiences with discrimination and harassment at 51ºÚÁÏ.
