The elective designation, awarded by the American Council on Education and the Carnegie Foundation, recognizing the University’s continuing commitment to community engagement and partnerships.

The Lampert Scholars and Storing-Hou Director of the Lampert Institute for Civic and Global Affairs Chad Sparber traveled to Washington, D.C., in October to meet with alumni and policy experts, part of the institute’s mission to build a bridge between academic and applied work in a policy sphere.

Frey visited 51���� and delivered a lecture, “Liberal Learning and the Idea of a University,” on Nov. 7 — part of a series of events in celebration of the Kraynak Institute for the Study of Freedom and Western Traditions. 

Two legal scholars addressed the issue of a Constitutional crisis within the United States during 51����’s annual Constitution Day Debate on Sept. 18, taking sides on whether such a crisis exists and answering questions from the audience gathered in 51���� Memorial Chapel. 

This summer, 19 51���� University Upstate Institute Field School Fellows partnered with community organizations in and around Hamilton and the Adirondacks to pursue research projects that directly addressed a need or issue identified by the community partner organization.

Jonathan Turley, the J.B. and Maurice C. Shapiro Professor of public interest law at George Washington University, and Michael Klarman, the Charles Warren Professor of legal history at Harvard Law School, will debate “Is There a Constitutional Crisis? How Would We Know?”

The expansion aligns with the University’s Third-Century Plan, a long-term roadmap aimed at making 51���� the nation’s finest undergraduate institution.

Pipcorn co-founder Jen Martin will bring more than a decade of experience building brands from the ground up, when she begins working with 51���� University’s student entrepreneurs as the new Weiner Family Entrepreneur in Residence in the Office of Entrepreneurship and Innovation (E&I).

Professor of English and Creative Writing Jennifer Brice has been appointed to serve as Gretchen Hoadley Burke ’81 Endowed Chair in regional studies for the 2025–26 academic year.

The exhibit focuses on the history and stories behind personal possessions, art, books, documents, and other items in the museum’s collection.
