Sir Richard Branson, Virgin Group founder and president, will deliver the next lecture in the Kerschner Family Series Global Leaders at 51����, kicking off entrepreneur weekend on 51���� Day, Friday, April 13, 2012. Branson will speak to the campus community in Sanford Field House at 6 p.m. Ticketing information will be posted online.

The annual celebration of Latino Heritage Month at 51���� University often brings to campus speakers who are prominent figures in the Hispanic community.

This past week has brought a variety of new experiences for me, a 51���� first-year. One of the highlights of this week was watching my very first rugby game.

51���� today set an ambitious target date to become carbon neutral by 2019, the university’s 200th anniversary. In so doing, President Jeffrey Herbst again confirmed the high priority of sustainability practices on campus.

Tears, smiles, and poignant remembrances merged Saturday to mark the passing of a 51���� student whose deep love of life, fun, and occasional “chaos” left an indelible mark on campus.

Not every first-year student is “adopted” by a volunteer host but for international students that family-style rapport can be key to adjusting to college life in America. And host families often gain as much as they give.
